Blade Song by J.C. Daniels

First off, I absolutely adored this book. I am so used to adult fiction books that are all about sex, some actual plot, and more sex. Lone behold the  heroine actually has some backbone, and character depth. She (Kit) doesn't magically get over all her issues and has some decent fighting scenes. To many heroines suffer from TSTL (To stupid to Live), but not this one. Now that I have gushed about how much I love this book, I give you props Daniels, for creating an old school I just want to read for enjoyment book.

Now ...drum roll...here's the summary of the book.
Kit Colbana—half breed, assassin, thief, jack of all trades—has a new job: track down the missing ward of one of the local alpha shapeshifters. It should be a piece of cake.
So why is she so nervous? It probably has something to do with the insanity that happens when you deal with shifters—especially sexy ones who come bearing promises of easy jobs and easier money.
Or maybe it’s all the other missing kids that Kit discovers while working the case, or the way her gut keeps screaming she’s gotten in over her head. Or maybe it’s because if she fails—she’s dead.
If she can stay just one step ahead, she should be okay. Maybe she’ll even live long to collect her fee…

Finally for your viewer enjoyment let's break this book down.
Heroine/sorta damsel in distress: (Kit Colbana) Wields a kickass word, smart mouthed, and keeps  going even when faced with (weres, vampires, deranged humans). Also, she holds a secret soft spot for kids. Faces some nightmarish physcological turmoil, but still manges to sucks it up.
Dark knight/man candy: (Damon) What's not to love? He's nice looking, protective, and creates some steamy tension with our heroine. He's your normal all around love interest with a few supernatural twists. (aka werecat)
Seems like he's  not so bad, nope he's a villain: (Jude the vampire) Vampires are not all sparkly and secretly still holding onto there humanity in this book. Nope this guy likes blood and is manipulative with a capital M. He gives some real bad guy spice to a genera that has way to many friendly vamps.

Thank you netgallery.com for letting me review this book.

To many love triangles

First off, I want to say love triangles are not always a bad thing; in some books, movies, and TV shows it really does add a little spice to life. More times then not now a love triangle is thrown in the plot and you lose so much action and themes because a girl is angsty over her love life. In the real world if you were battling evil forces and your planet/ friends/ culture/ pet/ were about to be destroyed your not really wondering what boy to be with. One of two things would happen. A.) You are so worried about said crazy thing that's the only thing on your mind. B.) It's the end of the world so time to be the biggest slut and do anything that moves. I personally would go with option A, but I know others who would be just fine with B.

So when your fighting Zombies remember don't worry about love triangles because there is 99.9% chance one of those would be suitors will bite the dust. Most likely in a very gruesome self sacrificial role.

If anyone knows of some new YA without a love triangle that you think are good let me know.

By the way this Meme about sums up this post. Stay Classy internet....

What I'm reading now

With the magical tech of getting ebooks to my ipad I now have two books that I am looking forward to reading this week. One of them being ....drum roll......The Girl in the Steel Corset by Kady Cross.
This is supposed to be a steam punk YA book. Here is the summary just in case you want to read it too.
In 1897 England, sixteen-year-old Finley Jayne has no one…except the "thing" inside her. When a young lord tries to take advantage of Finley, she fights back. And wins. But no normal Victorian girl has a darker side that makes her capable of knocking out a full-grown man with one punch….
Only Griffin King sees the magical darkness inside her that says she's special, says she's one of them. The orphaned duke takes her in from the gaslit streets against the wishes of his band of misfits: Emily, who has her own special abilities and an unrequited love for Sam, who is part robot; and Jasper, an American cowboy with a shadowy secret.
Griffin's investigating a criminal called The Machinist, the mastermind behind several recent crimes by automatons. Finley thinks she can help—and finally be a part of something, finally fit in.
But The Machinist wants to tear Griff's little company of strays apart, and it isn't long before trust is tested on all sides. At least Finley knows whose side she's on—even if it seems no one believes her.

Of course, heres the book trailer too. Enjoy

-After reading the book I decided this song went with the book.....Darkside by Kelly Clarkson

Obsidian (Lux seies) by Jennifer Armentrout

Can I just say for a book YA book about aliens this is freaking fantastic. Her is the summary from goodreads.
Starting over sucks.
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.
The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.
If I don't kill him first, that is.

This book actually makes me want to gush. Not only is there a hot male lead, but he's a jerk for about 3/4th the book. You can pratically fell the tension between Katy and Daemon as the try to to not like each other. I firmly believe a good author will pull you into the story and Jennifer did a remarkable job of doing it.
So to break down the story more.
Damsel in distress/ Heroine- Katy is a new favorite for heorines, yeah she can be whiny, but she's stubborn and downright funny. She also has admirable morals. This heroine was very relatable and made you want to root for her.
Dark knight-Daemon shows so much loyalty to his sister, and is secretly such a good guy. The book would be half a good though without his major personality flips. The fights between Daemon and Katy are extermly enteraining.
Best friend-Dee, Daemon's twin, is a very loyally friend who brings and intresting spark to the book. It is because of Dee that Katy gets drawn into the aliens world.

Finally below is the link to the steamy trailer for the book.

Finally I'm looking forward to Onyx the second book in the series is coming out August, 2012. funny gifs

Tiger's Voyage by Colleen Houck
