Stay the Distance Book Review

Description

July Carter’s world is perfect from the back of a horse. From the ground, everything is a complete mess: her jockey mom ran off for California years ago, her dad always seems more interested in the horses than in her, and the horse July wants for herself will never be hers.
Even though the New York racing circuit has taught her not to get attached, July can’t help connecting with Kali, a hopeless filly that refuses to run when it counts. When bankruptcy rumors start swirling around the barn, the future is murkier than ever. July can’t stand losing one more thing, and Beck, the barn owner’s son, knows more about the rumors than anyone else. July will get the truth, even if she has to pry it out of him, for Kali’s sake and her own.

With it being racing season I thought it would be a great time to publish my review for Stay the Distance.

Review: I actually read this book right after I went to the Kentucky Derby and thought that added to my book experience. For those of you you don't get that experience I think this gives a unique perspective of the horse industry that focuses more on the trainers bond with the animal and not the owners. July is a young adult who is in a sort of limbo and on top of that she has family drama. Add into that this love/hate relationship and you get real life drama set against a industry a lot of people are not necessarily privy too. I enjoyed reading it and hope we get to see if the story develops farther.

The Demon’s Deadline by Tori Centanni

Nicki almost died in the car accident. Instead she was offered a deal.

Now she works for the demon Azmos, delivering his mysterious envelopes all over town. Only her boyfriend Cam knows the truth about her after-school job—Cam, who’s (thankfully) as understanding as he is gorgeous and smart. Nicki’s never had Cam’s bold ambitions; her only talent is guessing the killer in a horror movie. All she wants is to graduate high school, marry Cam someday, and live happily ever after… but lately her work for the demon’s pulling her into deeper danger. Danger that threatens her life and also the bonds that matter most to her. Her best friend Melissa, whom she’s forced to lie to. Her grieving father. And Cam.

But is it even possible to free herself from the contract that saved her life?

And what if she did manage to untangle herself from the arcane world forever — without it, what kind of life does Nicki have left? Once you’ve seen death and darkness, once you know that magic is real, how can you ever go back to being a normal teenager?

It’s finally time Nicki faced her own demons….

My Review

When I started reading this book I couldn't help but think it reminded of a book I read previously. Not the plot but in the style it was written. I finally figured out it reminded me of L.J. Smith's Forbidden Game series. Both books have  humor but the story has a darkness embedded in it.  I actually liked that there was an existing relationship and think that made the whole story. To be honest though it took me a couple chapters to start getting into the story, but finally things started falling in place and engaged me a lot more.

Carefree voxbox review

I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes."

I had the opportunity to review the carefree voxbox from infuensters.  Inside were carefree liners. I am going to be honest I feel like it is awkward to talk about anything related the down under feminine area. Not just liners but tampons, pads, and adult diapers. It is just this taboo topic that we can talk about among ourselves but it is not something we talk about about publically. I will be honest in my review but it still feels strange to discuss my review.

Review:
I had no big problems with the liners, they seemed to emit no smell and did the job they were supposed to do. The packaging color wasn't my favorite but its just a wrapper, so, it's not the end of the world since the product did what it was supposed to do. I would have no problem purchasing this product in the store.
